Multi factor authentication: The more advanced security for modern web platforms

Today security for web is a critical topic of discussion. Unlike previous days when internet was not that efficient and potent to be called as backbone of almost every industry, today it has earned that title and is a crucial part of everyone’s life.

Like criticality of security for a bank, security over internet is that much crucial. Internet has very crucial data stored as well as is travelling to and fro round the clock.
Most of the internet data is generated by users, whether it is text, video, cookies, usage history, etc., most of the data is crucial one or the other way.

A website is one of the sources where data is generated on internet. Some generated data is public like media files, images and some is private to generating sources like credentials, activity, history etc.

To ensure private data stay private, technologies and best practices should be implemented on web platforms which safeguard data and prevent it from theft.

Multi factor authentication is one of such technologies which helps in safeguarding form attacks and improve website security.

Multi factor authentication offers security while authenticating. It helps in validating users and provides extra layer of security while authenticating.

Multi factor authentication offers multiple layers of user validation on a website. With the help of multiple cross checks, user is validated before they get access to premium area. Multifactor can include three or more than three methods to ensure the rightful access.

Anyone who has credentials can gain access to web platform and utilize it services, irrespective of person using it. This process jeopardizes security when some unauthorized person has access to those credentials by any means.

Including multi factor authentication secures authentication process.
Once a user successfully get past login screen, it is welcome another screen where it has to again validate themselves by any means.

Mostly SMS or phone verification is used for validating an user. By cross checking validation, unauthorized access can be prevented.

Mostly used validation method after SMS/call is Social Login, security questions and authenticator apps.
They can be arranged in any order according to website owner preference.

It is not mandatory to implement them in continuation.  This may irritate user and make then never arrive.

Multi factor authentication is indeed an advance level of security for web platforms.
